Dr. Jafar Siddiqui Joins the Medical Staff at the Brain and Spine Center

|2009-07-10|  Dr. Jafar Siddiqui will be joining the medical staff of the Brain and Spine Center on July 27, 2009. Specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Interventional Pain Management, Dr. Siddiqui’s practice will involve the diagnosis and treatment of pain related disorders to provide a full range of treatments and services for patients suffering from chronic and/or acute pain.
The goals of interventional pain management and physical medicine and rehabilitation are to relieve, reduce, or manage pain and overall quality of life through minimally invasive techniques and therapies. Interventional pain management also strives to help patients return to their everyday activities quickly and without heavy reliance on medications. Dr. Siddiqui may recommend various therapies such as physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic care, medical massage and/or exercise regimes. Some of the procedures he performs include epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, radiofrequency ablation, discography and spinal cord stimulation.

Dr. Jafar Siddiqui grew up in Midland, Michigan and did his pre-medical studies in mechanical engineering at the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida. While studying at the University of Florida he received a National Science Foundation Assistantship to work in conjunction with the Harris Corporation on semiconductor wafer fabrication systems for computer chips designed for the NASA fleet of space shuttles.

A graduate of Spartan Health Sciences University School of Medicine, he completed his internship in Internal Medicine and his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois. He recently completed a two-year fellowship in Interventional Spine and Pain Medicine.
Dr. Siddiqui has presented numerous posters and scientific papers at the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and at Association of Academic Physiatrists meetings. In addition, Dr. Siddiqui was a Scholarship Recipient of the “Essentials of Pain Management: Principles and Practice” program presented by the American Pain Society.

Dr. Siddiqui is a member of the: American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; Association of Academic Physiatrists, International Spine Intervention Society; North American Spine Society; Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation; American Pain Society, and the American Medical Association.
